My husband and I spent a wonderful week in April seeing Ireland with Tom as our driver and guide. After doing one drive-on-the-left trip on our own in Britain, we knew we didn’t want to do another one. We wanted to get out into the Irish countryside, and some of the attractions that interested us were not easy to get to. A Rural Experience was a great solution, allowing us to see everything we wanted to at our own pace. Prior to our travels, we spent many months planning our trip and communicating online with Rebecca, who always replied promptly, was open to any changes we made along the way, and was most helpful in suggesting attractions, possible routes, and accommodations. Tom was great company, a wealth of knowledge about Ireland, a superb driver, and always on time and aware of our schedule. We felt in good hands and confident that Tom would get us where we needed to be, allowing us to relax and enjoy our time at each stop. This was an ideal stress-free way to travel and one of our best vacation trips ever. We would do it again in a minute. Such good people to work with!

Awesome Eddie! Eddie was our driver for our tours of Dingle Penninsula and the Ring of Kerry and we had a blast spending time with him. He did a marvelous job showing us all the sites and telling us about the history of each. It was the best day of our trip by far. Highly recommend.

This tour agency is the Best in Ireland! We just completed a 13 day tour of Ireland with Becky doing much of the planning and Tom doing the driving plus providing local history. This is our second tour with Tom as our driver, and we were not disappointed. It is amazing how much we learned about Ireland and the hundreds of landmarks from Tom. He was not only our driver, but our friend. We give A Rural Experience our highest rating and chose them to take our daughter and family next year for a tour of Ireland. Well done Becky and Tom! We had eight wonderful days touring Ireland with Tom McDonald as our driver. In addition to the sights we selected as part of our itinerary, Tom suggested so many more points of interest to see along our route, especially the small villages off the major highway. Tom also provided the history of the areas and points of interest along the way. We highly recommend A Rural Experience tour company, and hopefully we will see Tom again in the future. This was our first Irish trip and we wanted to do it right. Massachusetts based Tenon Tours coordinated all aspects of our 10 day journey thru Ireland and connected us with Eddie McDonald, of A Rural Experience, to manage all the personal driver/guide logistics. What a tremendous experience we had with Eddie! From meeting us in Dublin through navigating down to Kinsale, up to Killarney and past Galway to Ashford Castle in Cong, Eddie was outstanding in so many different ways. His knowledge of Ireland, places to see, great picture stops, where to have a good meal while making us laugh along the way earned him the nickname “The Professional”. Yes, we saw the castles, cliffs, ruins, bogs, animals, stone circles and even a boarder collie field trial demonstration with Joe Joyce in the hills outside of Cong. I do believe, since Eddie was that good, that he personally arranged for the fabulous weather we had along the way. Should you be lucky enough to meet him, ask about Willie Nelson and he’ll reveal his west Texas twang while keeping you amply supplied with water. The Professional clearly loves his family & country and we were fortunate to have him share his insights with us. A Rural Experience is a top notch, family run organization. We encourage anyone interested in having a knowledgeable & fun companion, while seeing the Irish countryside, to book time with Eddie….he’s one of life’s great experiences!...and will be remembered for a long, long time….Thank You!

Thanks to Rebecca and Eddie at A Rural Experience for putting together a truly lovely 10 day tour of Ireland. Our merry little band of 3 couples wanted to avoid a "corporate" style tour. Instead, we asked Rebecca to help us put together an itinerary of "must sees" along with some sites/destinations perhaps a bit off the beaten path. With that goal in mind, we went from Dublin (where we landed), to Galway, to Killarney, to Killkenny then back to Dublin for a couple of days. Cliffs, mountains, pubs, sheep dog trials, cathedrals, castles, distilleries, Waterford and so much more was included in this well paced and full vacation. And making our lives easy throughout the trip was our driver and tour guide, Eddie. Eddie kept us on schedule, safe, laughing and was thoroughly professional in all ways. We were originally planning to visit Ireland in April 2020 (then Covid hit). Becky had to cancel all our accommodations and graciously re-booking our entire vacation for April 2023. She made the transition seamless and we were finally able to enjoy our trip of a lifetime. Our accommodations, private driver and excursions were outstanding thanks to Becky's suggestions and hard work. Couldn't have asked for a better experience:)

What a fantastic experience! Our driver, Tom, provided us with hours of entertaining (and often very funny) stories of Irish life and culture. We were determined to make the absolute most of our short time in Ireland, and Tom certainly delivered! From the jaw-dropping views at Rock of Cashel to the charming city of Kilkenny and the bustle of Waterford, we thoroughly enjoyed our tour of Ireland’s Ancient East! This testimonial is long overdue. My husband and I along with friends went to Ireland last year and had a wonderful time, largely due to our driver Tom McDonald. He was a terrific guide! He was professional,, courteous, friendly, and very knowledgeable. I had sent information earlier about a small town in northern Ireland where my ancestors were from and they not only found this town but found the church and exact location where they once lived. I was overjoyed and so grateful! I would like to say "thank you" to them again and I can't recommend them enough!
